  • Overview

    Performs various duties associated with the mixing of chemical products, monitoring and testing of fluids and levels. Designs and maintains the various fluid systems associated with the completion of wells. Conducts field testing and QA/QC of various products, chemicals, and the operation of lab machinery.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs all chemical testing and sand QC as required by Lead, Fluid Technician when on location.  Tests gelled slurry/borate XL fluids while in the field.    

     

    • Captures chemical and proppant inventory prior to job, after each stage and when transfers or completion of fracturing occurs.  Monitors quality of fracturing fluid during pumping operation to include necessary input on adjustment of chemicals without delay and accurate reporting of these changes to Engineer and Supervisor on site. Reports on performance of chemical pump accuracy and status prior to, during and after fracturing to include highs/lows, issues and assistance in bucket testing with Field Engineer.

     

    • Oversees Quality Assurance and successful completion of wells and offers input toward fluids design and best practices in clean side (back-side) operation of fracture treatment to include fluids planning, material/equipment selection, QAQC and pre/post job fluids analysis.  Provides Field Engineer and Supervisor an account of backside equipment and chemical/sand inventories. 

     

    • Assists in calibration and training regarding proper maintenance of Chem-Add, Hydration, Blender and correct rig-up procedures in compliance with department protocol and at the direction of the Fluids Coordinator.   Manages cleaning, upkeep and proper maintenance of backside auxiliary equipment to include chemical hoses, flow loops, connections, “pigs” and any other equipment deemed within job scope by Fluids Coordinator.  Maintains lab equipment and testing apparatus in field labs to include maintenance of such items for job readiness.  

    Qualifications

    Education
    Minimum of high school diploma.
     
    Experience
    Minimum 1 year experience in Oil and Gas Field Services or equivalent record as a fluids technician/lab technician.
     
    Other Requirements
    Proven track record of competencies and accomplishments with previous employers with specific experience in XL systems and trouble shooting.
    Experience in Equipment Operations with all backside fracturing equipment to include blenders, hydrations, chemical add units, rig-up, etc.
    Fluids background, including gels, acids, QAQC.
    Advance knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
    Strong Mathematical skills.
     
    Physical Demands
    Regularly required to sit; talk or hear; reach with hands and arms; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
    Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
    Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
     
    Work Environment  
    Regularly works near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outdoor weather conditions.
    Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
