  • Overview

    Maintains a safe work environment under supervision of the Wireline lead. Operates and has expert knowledge in all wireline equipment to include winch, pressure control 5k, 10k, and 30 ton crane. Handles equipment operation for assigned jobs, including, but not limited to, maintaining equipment, assisting higher level operators in daily operations, ensuring required safety and operational procedures are followed.





    • Maintains assigned equipment.  Performs daily inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements.    Reports all operational deficiencies to supervisor and maintenance personnel.  
    • Participates and is able to lead other equipment operators in rigging up and rigging down of wireline operations in a safe manner.
    • Completes pre and post trip inspections and maintenance with associated paperwork, plus fuels and services the units.  Maintains all required log books and inspection reports.  Prepares equipment for next day use. 
    • Participates in safety meetings and ensures clear communication amongst operators.
    • Assists Lead in operations as needed.
    • Acts as a lower level Equipment Operator and Gunloader when necessary.
    • Studies, maintains knowledge of, and adheres to company policies, Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations, and wireline operation manuals. If CDL endorsement is obtained as a requirement of position or voluntarily while in the employment of LEG, employee will ensure that all applicable state/federal guidelines, rules and regulations that apply under (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Part 383) will be carried out in accordance with the law.


    Minimum of high school diploma.
    Minimum 5 years combined experience with Wireline Equipment, pressure control equipment and pumping equipment. This is including crane operations.
    Other Requirements
    General knowledge of oil and gas industry.
    Experience with wireline equipment.
    Knowledge and able to re-head wireline rope socket’s.
    Expert operation knowledge of wireline B.O.P’s, pressure control, and 30 ton cranes in emergency operations.
    Commercial driver license with no restrictions and Hazmat.
    Motor vehicle record (MVR) reflecting no convictions for recurring or serious violations or accidents.
    Must maintain hazardous material (X) endorsement while employed.
    Must pass an extensive ATF background check. No convictions, felonies and misdemeanors.
    Physical Demands
    Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell and talk or hear.  Regularly required to lift/move up to 50 pounds.  Occasionally required to lift/move up to 100 pounds.  Requires close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
    Work Environment  
    Regularly works near moving mechanical parts; with risk of electrical shock; works with explosives; with exposure to radiation and exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in high, precarious places; exposed to vibration and exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  Noise level is usually loud. Constant hands on work with wireline explosive use. Will be trained.
