    Wildlife Specialist

    Oversees the development of pristine wildlife habitat and deer population with supervision from ranch management and ownership. Works to increase our quantity and quality of wildlife species with supplemental feeding and game camera analysis. Implements best management practices for all wildlife operations including cost and efficiency.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensures proper deer management, game camera surveying, protein and corn feeder assessment.
    • Prepares deer inventory reports presented to management.
    • Maintains and keeps inventory of all wildlife equipment (deer blinds, game cameras, skeet range, targets at shooting range).
    • Assists predator control, guiding hunters, cleaning and processing deer.
    • Submits and maintains all MLD permits, deer field improvements, food plots, and assists with exotic workings on ranch as well as other owned ranches.
    • Follows and is knowledgeable of all ranch policies, procedures, and equipment manuals.
    • Assists with helicopter game census. Assist with other livestock activities at times.

    Education and/or Experience                      
    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Wildlife Ecology/Management; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills                      
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Mathematical Skills                      
    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability                      
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills                      
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
