  • Overview

    Equipment Operator II, Wireline

     Operates various equipment and/or machinery to increase material flows in cased-hole oil & gas exploration operations. Maintains the safe operation of the wireline truck at the service location. Assists with wireline operations both in shop and in field. Maintains truck and equipment, as well as keeps records for the overall operation.


    • Drives equipment to and from various locations.  Assists crew in setting up wireline truck, unloading equipment, assembling, preparing tools and rigging up on location.  Cleans and checks service unit, tools, and equipment.   Performs routine maintenance in preparation for next job.
    • Aids in rig up and down of wellsite equipment.  Works with crew on fishing operations, coring operations, testing operations, and vertical tool make-up.  Provides assistance in rigging down, loading equipment and driving truck to shop or next site.
    • Participates in perforation by connecting explosives to wireline.  Assists with loading perforation guns.  Ensures compliance with all Federal, Country, State, Local and WLE regulations applicable to WLE explosives operations.
    • Maintain wellsite records and communications.  Complete proper job-related paperwork and other records for self and assigned crew.  Inspects vehicles, mechanized devices and equipment, repairs and maintains machinery and communicates any component issues to management.


    If CDL endorsement is obtained as a requirement of position or voluntarily while in the employment of LEG, employee will ensure that all applicable state/federal guidelines, rules and regulations that apply under (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Part 383) will be carried out in accordance with the law.
    Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
    Minimum 3 years related experience.
    Other Requirements
    Class B commercial driver license with Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME) and no restrictions.
    General knowledge of basic oil and gas industry.
    Good mechanical aptitude.
    Ability to work well and communicate with other.
    Motor vehicle record (MVR) reflecting no convictions for recurring or serious violations or accidents.
    Physical Demands
    Continuously required to drive on lease properties and highways.  Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
    Occasionally required to sit; and taste or smell.  Regularly required to lift/move up to 50 pounds.  Occasionally required to lift/move up to 100 pounds.  Requires color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    Work Environment  
    Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; work with explosives; and vibration.  Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk or electrical shock; and risk of radiation. Noise level in work environment is usually loud.
