  • Overview

    Summary
    Participates, researches and contributes to audit responses for Joint Venture audits conducted by JV partners.  Applies industry, audit and accounting knowledge to defend Operator Joint Interest Billings.  

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Researches and investigates audit exceptions to determine whether the evidence supports the claims made by non-operators.

    Uses industry and COPAS knowledge to aptly respond to audit exceptions.

    Prepares and submits written audit rebuttals documents.

    Reads and interprets COPAS documents, Joint Operating Agreements, Service Contracts and Vendor bids/ invoices and cite findings to support audit responses and resolve information requests and exceptions.

    Hosts non-operator audits.  Assists in preparing for audit by providing JADE, invoice support, contracts, operating agreements, and other information.

    Assists with Joint Interest Billing duties as needed including monthly billing, prior period adjustments, deck corrections, etc.

    Education and/or Experience                      
    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; minimum three years related experience.

    Language Skills                      
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

    Mathematical Skills                      
    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    Reasoning Ability                      
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills                      
    Proficient in Microsoft suite; Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint.  Enertia, Wellview & Spotfire  experience preferred.

    Other Skills and Abilities                      
    Strong communication skills, both written and oral. 
    Team player.
    Knowledge of COPAS accounting procedures.
