  • Overview

    Summary: Ensures efficiency, safety and cost control by providing the Client Company with a detailed analytical record of the geology, oil and gas shows, drilling and mud parameters, and related problems encountered during drilling and completion.


    • Ensures mud logging unit is manned during well operations.  Maintains equipment/stock inventory.
    • Collects cuttings samples, from the correct lagged depth and at the correct frequency, as required for evaluation.  Examines and describes cuttings samples as per oil industry standards.  Evaluates all cuttings samples for the presence of hydrocarbon shows.
    • Monitors gas levels, lag time, drilling and geological parameters, and reports any
      anomalies to the appropriate persons for action.  Maintains regular contact with the local base to report the current work situation and discuss possible problems in the
    • Maintains accurate and comprehensive log(s) as per the specified format.   Completes and submits all daily reports and logs concerning geological and drilling parameters.  Ensures all information required to complete the final well report is identified, monitored, recorded, and available on time for inclusion into the report.
    • Performs regular and frequent calibration checks of gas instruments.  Performs scheduled maintenance checks and completes necessary repairs on all equipment, particularly sensors, and reports breakdowns immediately to the appropriate persons.



    • Minimum Bachelors’ degree of Science in Geosciences.
    • Minimum 1 year of experience in the field of mud logging

    Other Requirements;

    • Proven competence in well monitoring, sample descriptions and generation of Lithology Log.
    • Ability and willingness to work long hours.
    • Ability and willingness to work in Mexico.
    • Bilingual, English and Spanish.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Competent in Microsoft Office.
    • Adequate knowledge of basic oilfield operations.
    • Adequate knowledge of basic hardware maintenance.

    Physical Demands:

    • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
    • Frequently required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Occasionally equired to sit.
    • Occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds.
    • Requires close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.


    Work Environment:

    • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
    • Occasionally works in high, precarious places and exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
    • Noise level is usually loud.
