  • Overview

    Provides support and tactical implementation in the areas of training, performance management, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, employee relations, labor relations, and workforce planning.


    Talent management:  Maintains applicant tracking system and metrics associated with recruiting.  Manages recruiting life cycle to include requisition generation, interviews, offers, backgrounds, on-boarding, orientation, etc.  Assists with updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions, as needed.  Represents company at job fairs and other recruiting events.  Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions.)  Coaches leadership on performance management and participates in counseling investigations, and/or termination proceedings. 
    Employee relations:  Participates in termination decision to ensure fairness and adherence to employment laws.  Drives and promotes organizational initiatives.  Conducts exit interviews and reviews data to identify termination trends and provides insight to managers on retention initiatives.  Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.  Ensures team members stay informed of changes in company policy.  Assists in the solutions and appropriate adjustments to complaints received from managers and team members.  Assures company policies and practices comply with applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws, including the maintenance of maintenance of necessary files, etc. 
    Outreach efforts:  Maintains good public relations status with various civic and welfare organizations, local plants, all forms of local media, state and local government representatives, charitable organizations, educational institutions, the community, and team members regarding human resources functions.

    Training and development:   Consults with other managers on training and development issues.  Recommends training and development strategies for broad and individualized needs. Manages the training software utilized by the company.  Creates and maintains user profiles, maintains training content, tracks utilization, and assists with software contract details.  Assists in development and delivery, creates and disperses communication announcement, schedules participants, handles logistics, and develops and prepares materials.  Works with managers to develop a career path for team members in their respective departments.  Coordinates with managers requesting an intern, identifies and screens candidates, on-boards selected interns, develops and coordinates program events.  Coordinates training programs for specialized issues, e.g. - skill enhancement, ethics and compliance, and sexual harassment.

    Education and/or Experience                                                    
    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Language Skills                                                                
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    Mathematical Skills                                                       
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    Reasoning Ability                                                           
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    Computer Skills                                                               
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.  Individual should also have experience with Human Resources information systems.
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    Professional in Human Resources (PHR) is a plus.
    Other Skills and Abilities                                                            
    Strong interpersonal skills.
    Expert relationship building skills with all levels of team members from entry level workers and senior management.
    Strict attention to detail.
    Other Qualifications                                                     
    Experience in the alignment of performance requirements and competencies to training resources and will be a skilled platform presenter and multi-media training coordinator.
