Overview

Handles equipment operation for the efficient transfer of water for hydraulic fracturing and drilling operations. Monitors and troubleshoots various types of equipment including High-Rate Transfer pumps, poly pumps, aluminum transfer pipe, road crossings, fittings, meters and coiled polyline. Assures adherence to safe work practices and documents work progress and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains assigned equipment including, trucks, trailers, pumps, pipe, road crossings, fittings, hoses, manifolds, tools, uniforms, etc. Performs daily inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements. Reports all operational deficiencies or damages to equipment to supervisor within 2 hours.
  • Participates in rigging up and rigging down at assigned locations. Lays and connects pipe so that it is in the proper location and has no leaks. Handles pipe, fittings, hoses and tools in a safe and cautious manner. (Pipe laying crew only)
  • Controls pumps used in the transport of water from storage ponds to fracturing or drilling operation. Operates equipment as trained to maintain equipment as best as possible and provide the needed BBL’s/minute to the fracturing/drilling operation. (Pumping crew only)
  • Completes pre and post job inspections and maintenance of equipment. Prepares equipment for next day use.
  • Tracks water usage on all jobs and submits information to supervisors.
  • Assists upper level equipment operators as necessary and as requested.
  • Follows direction of Leads and ultimately, Field Supervisors.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.


Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience


Other Requirements

  • General knowledge of oil and gas industry.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
  • Must be team oriented especially under difficult conditions.


Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit and taste or smell.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • No special vision requirements.


Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions; outdoor weather conditions; and extreme heat (non-weather).
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Occasionally works in high, precarious places; exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold (non-weather) risk of electrical shock; and risk of radiation.
  • Noise level is usually very loud.
