Overview

Operates one or various types of power construction equipment, such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete or other hard surface pavement. Maintains and repairs equipment when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Operates equipment in accordance with company procedure. Learns and follows safety regulations. Performs daily safety and maintenance checks. Participates in routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Operates equipment required to prepare location for rig up. Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate various types of equipment.
  • Operates equipment in a safe and effective manner. Avoids potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers and falling objects. Drives and maneuvers equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, and rocks, and to distribute and level earth or terrain. Loads and moves dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.
  • Coordinates machine actions with other activities. Positions or moves load in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.

 

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating and maintaining bulldozers, front-end loaders, motor graders, excavators, scrapers or other heavy construction equipment.

 

Other Requirements:

 

  • General knowledge of basic oil and gas industry.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work well and communicate with other.
  • Motor vehicle record (MVR) reflecting no convictions for recurring or serious violations or accidents.

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Continuously required to drive on lease properties and highways.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; and taste or smell.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Requires color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment:

 

  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; work with explosives; and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk or electrical shock; and risk of radiation.
  • Noise level in work environment is usually loud.
