Production Operations




Supports existing SCADA systems and performs project work to enhance and build new SCADA systems.  Maintains a secure, standardized and reliable SCADA system environment operating under Lewis Energy Group procedures and standards of operations.


Essential Duties:

  • Maintains and updates the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • Implements or assists in the implementation of SCADA modifications to support system changes; artificial lift applications including gas-lift, plunger lift, and rod pump control.
  • Coordinates with measurement technicians to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair communication systems.
  • Investigates, evaluates and recommends hardware, software, or service required to repair, replace, enhance, update or improve the SCADA environment.
  • Updates software and software configurations as needed to maintain system integrity.
  • Works closely with the technical support groups, midstream, and production engineering to improve operations and support the business initiatives.
  • Identifies opportunities for applying the SCADA and automation capabilities to add value to the business and operations.
  • Creates necessary "view" screens and performs data mapping to ensure smooth data flow from field device throughout production data system.
  • Coordinates with vendors for product support.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field from four -year college or university; minimum of (5) years of progressive experience to include PLC programming with Function Block and Ladder Logic; SCADA commissioning, design, or operations; and experience working with the Windows operating system and system administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills                                                              

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability                                                          

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills                                                             

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of file structures, data structures, graphics editors and scientific programming languages. Strong troubleshooting skills required.  The individual must adhere to good programming practices and strict testing standards.
