Overview

We are looking for someone with an Engineering background that will perform economic modelling, cost analysis, performance management, delivery, and assurance for the Business Development and International teams. Assembles the inputs and recommends the outputs of all the various required models, cost analysis, performance management and planning processes, including short term budgets and long term plans and all other reporting tools used.

Responsibilities

Economic evaluations: Coordinates the building of medium term (2-3 years) capital / cash flow information in support of corporate planning activities. Works jointly with the Drilling, Production Planning Engineers, Mexico, BD-Strategy team, Land, field teams and supervisors to obtain data and provide context on how cost data is utilized.

 

Budget and planning: Works with all required parties in country teams / parties to ensure proper alignment on the numbers and activity set supporting the numbers. Coordinates the international yearly budgetary process for on time approval and consolidation at corporate level. Assists in reviewing and closing out AFEs as they reach the end of their life and determines when costs should no longer be allocated to original AFE budget. Assists the BD-Strategy and Mexico department and management with other on-going projects that have ties to AFE close-out and controls as needed. Provides support to the BD-Strategy department and Mexico personnel to establish and maintain up to date Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documents. 

 

Activity economics and financial reporting: Proposes and helps in implementing processes and tools to promote cost awareness and proper cost management practices to align Capex and LOE expenditures to what has been planned. Supports management on the delivery of a monthly Upstream Performance One Pager with inputs from the teams and preparation of slides for the monthly and quarterly Management reviews. Works with the International Managers, SVP BD-Strategy /Finance Manager and Finance team on the prompt implementation and consolidation of the Performance Management framework for Capital tracking, Production, LOE COST analysis, overhead, expense well-work, KPI’s for the International and BD Team. Monitors actual versus planned expenditures and produce cost forecasts to provide timely notification of potential over/under runs and coordinate the variance analysis reporting. 

 

Coordination with technical and other teams: Works with drilling, production, and completions teams to assist in the delivery of drilling and performance objectives.   This should also include the support to keeping a current rig schedule and options for early rig release and savings.

 

Projects: Supports Capex and LOE audit actions implementation. Leads other ad-hoc request and projects, special Finance and technical projects among the team. Attends Mexico and BD-Strategy Management meeting and finance Meetings as required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                    

A Bachelor's degree in Science or Business or related field with two to five years of experience in financial modelling, cost analysis, budge execution, target delivery.

 

Language Skills                                                                

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                       

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability                                                           

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills                                                               

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Experience with Enertia and Peloton WellView is preferred.
