About Us

Lewis Aeronautical is a Part 91, on-demand flight operation supporting business as well as personal travel for a San Antonio based Energy Company.  Flights will be conducted on a fleet of vintage aircraft throughout the U.S. as well as International destinations.

 

Our flight department is a fast-paced, challenging environment with an exciting mix of mission profiles.

 

The Warbird Maintenance Supervisor oversees all aspects related to the maintaining and readiness of the Warbird aviation assets to include the management of personnel within that department.  The position is directly responsible for successful upkeep of rare vintage aircraft for the owner’s use and occasional display to the public.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensures safe maintenance and line operations.
  • Supervises maintenance personnel.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of fleet.
  • Performs routine inspections (Annual and Continuous) of fleet.
  • Ensures the quality of aircraft, engine and avionics maintenance and repair.
  • Assists with development of department policies.
  • Assists with preparation of short- and long-range plans.
  • Assists with preparation of the annual operating budget.
  • Assists with establishment of minimum employment qualifications.
  • Develops assigned personnel to realize their full potential.
  • Assists with establishment of performance appraisal procedures and dismissal standards.
  • Recommends the proper staffing for the maintenance department.
  • Establishes schedules for periodic inspections, general overhaul, repairs and modifications.
  • Establishes and maintaining records as required by FARs, manufacturers and company policy.
  • Monitors these records, if maintained by outside agency.
  • Establishes maintenance safety rules and procedures.
  • Establishes spares and ground support equipment inventories.
  • Ensures that department personnel are thoroughly familiar with company policies, appropriate FARs, pertinent manuals, practices and publications.
  • Establishes programs for maintenance technician proficiency training, reviews and upgrades, in accordance with FAA and company requirements.
  • Establishes aircraft handling procedures.
  • Establishes requirements for hangar space, grounds and a fuel farm, if applicable.
  • Helps monitor security and environmental affairs, including completing material safety data sheets on all chemicals, fire drills and safety training.
  • Helps coordinate activities of the maintenance department with flight operations.
  • Helps ensure that maintenance and flight crew personnel understand the company’s objectives and each other’s needs.
  • Helps provide efficient and timely scheduling of all maintenance and repair.
  • Directs compliance of minimum equipment list (MEL) maintenance procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of the aviation hangar and office facility.
  • Directly supervises employees in the Warbirds Aircraft Maintenance department.

Qualifications

About You (Qualifications & Experience):

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Minimum 15 years related experience.
  • Experience with V12 and radial engines.

  • FAA A&P Certificate (Airframe & Powerplant).

  • FAA IA Certificate (Inspection Authorization).

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to navigate computer based maintenance programs for recording keeping etc.

Travel

50-75% of the time
