Overview

Summary

Maintains and operates pipeline assets including, but not limited to valve manifolds, pig launchers and receivers, and control and pump stations.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Maintains and operates custody transfer measurement facilities and performs product quality control tests.
  • Locates pipelines as needed and oversees excavations and line crossings.
  • Launches and receives cleaning pigs and assists with the launch and receiving of smart pigs.
  • Installs pipeline markers and does routing inspections on right of way.
  • Maintains and operates corrosion control equipment.
  • Attends and participates in damage prevention meetings.
  • Interfaces with various landowners including private, state, and federal agencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of current environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Meets requirements of Company Operator Qualification Program, performs identified tasks and remains compliant.
  • Attends training programs on a continual basis, including computer based training.
  • Attends all safety meeting and safety training courses as required by the company and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                  

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  A VoTech certificate or Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronics, Oil and Gas technical field is preferred; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills                                                              

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability                                                          

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills                                                             

Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver’s license.

 

Other Skills and Abilities                                                           

Ability to effectively multi task under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently as well as in team environments.

 

Other Qualifications                                                    

Previous experience and knowledge of industry related maintenance and repair standards.

Knowledge of the general design and operation of a liquid or gas pipeline.

Knowledge of centrifugal pumps, regulators, MOV's, electronic controls and medium electrical voltage is desired with an understanding of NGL pipelines.
