Summary
Monitors and controls natural gas flow on client interstate pipeline and gathering systems to assure daily receipt and delivery requirements are met within DOT and tariff standards while optimizing compression equipment usage and maintaining safe operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operates and controls natural gas flow through pipelines from Gas Control Center using a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) computer system.
Monitors flows, pressures and gas qualities across system and responds to SCADA system alarms to provide safe and reliable service.
Provides daily forecasts of system-wide gas requirements and adjusts to differences between forecasted and actual.
Plans and executes adjustments to pipeline flows, compression and line pack to meet current and anticipated customer needs.
Interfaces with gas schedulers and pipeline operations to maintain collaborative interdepartmental and cross-functional working relationships among office and field employees.
Completes and maintains at required intervals Operator Qualification Training as required by Company and DOT regulations.
Assists supervisor of gas control in the development of daily volume reports and gather operational data as needed.
Regularly uses and maintains spreadsheets, database and word processing software, and periodically learn new programs.
Gathers and documents information for pipeline and production related incident reports.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and minimum one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of general computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite- Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
