Lewis Energy Group is looking for a highly motivated Welder Assistant to join our Fabrication team.  The welder assistant provides support to the welder by helping Welder on everyday tasks. Including housekeeping of truck / area, organizing tools, acquire measurements, handling of raw goods / fabricated pieces, provide consumables, equipment, and will get familiarized on consumables / raw goods utilized.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Attends all safety meeting / JSA daily.
  • Checks engines (equipment) daily.
  • Conducts housekeeping of area / truck daily.
  • Confirms/maintains stock consumables/fuel on truck before departure daily.
  • Follows welder instructions on amp adjustments and alignment of raw goods daily.
  • Utilizes various tools/grinders (buffing, grinding) to clean welds, daily.
  • Utilizes/identifies safety procedures like Stop Work Authority where hazards may be present daily.

Your Work schedule/hours

  • Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 5:00pm
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed
  • Hours and schedule may vary based on operational tempo

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and minimum of six months related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces / elevated surfaces irregular intervals
  • Ability to work in adverse weather condition cold / heat irregular intervals

Language Skills                                                              

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability                                                          

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Forklift certification preferred.

 

Other Skills and Abilities      

Access to reliable transportation / cell service daily
