Summary:
Manages and directs rig operations during assigned shift to ensure maximum drilling efficiency and performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages two subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of eight employees in the Drilling Rigs department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises 10 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Other Qualifications
Ability and willingness to work a hitch of 7 days on and 7 days off, working 12.5 hour shifts that can include days or nights as well as weekends and holidays.
Must be able to read technical and policy documents in English at a level that allows clear understanding of all safety and operational requirements of equipment and procedures and be able to verbalize those requirements and procedures to all assigned personnel.
