Overview

Summary:

Supports workover wellsite operations by operating and maintaining workover equipment while maintaining safety standards. Supports Workover Field Supervisor and more senior equipment operators in preparing for and executing workover operations. 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following (performed under the direct supervision of the Field Supervisor). Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Performs pre- and post-job vehicle and equipment inspections and associated paperwork and/or reports. Drives equipment to and from various locations. Performs rig-up, rig-down, and maintenance of workover equipment including workover unit, pressure control equipment, pumps, tanks, manual/hydraulic pipe handler, tools and other equipment as needed. 

Complies with Company Safety procedures, ensuring a safe work environment. 

Participate in JSA and other general meetings as needed. 

Ensures that fuel and fluid levels are kept at healthy operating thresholds on designated service units. 

Ensures that all necessary normal operations safety equipment is on location and up to date (safety signs, fire extinguishers, etc)  

Operates the rig floor, pulling/laying down tubing, rods, tools, and occasionally casing. 

Operates equipment on location, including man-lift, fork-lift, pumps, tanks, and hydraulic pipe handler. 

Drives the crew company vehicle to and from location. 

Identifies and informs Workover Field Supervisor and crew of any operational deficiencies, or if any concerns are raised as to proper operational procedures.  

Performs record keeping of equipment (pipe tally, rental equipment, WO tools, etc.) 

Conducts maintenance and general upkeep of the designated units and all support equipment. 

Monitors, inspects, and adjusts all major equipment during operations to ensure the adequate operation of all equipment. Listens to motors, hydraulic pumps, and other equipment to detect faulty operations or potentially adverse well conditions. Reviews information from material, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems. 

Promotes and takes an active role in improving the quality of services provided.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

                                               

Language Skills                                                              

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of hiring organization. 

 

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  

 

Reasoning Ability                                                          

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

 

Computer Skills                                                             

Ability to utilize email and a variety of mobile and web-based applications to record work hours and communicate with various Team Members within the hiring organization. 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

A valid Class C driver’s license is required.  

A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License is preferred. 

(A valid DOT medical examiner’s certificate (Medical Card) is required with Class A or B CDL.) 

Motor vehicle record (MVR) reflecting no convictions for recurring or serious violations or accidents.

Strong verbal communication skills. 

Effective working both individually and as part of a team. 

 

Other Qualifications

CDL endorsement must be obtained as a requirement.
