Overview

Evaluates and enhances well performance by identifying production optimization/expansion opportunities.  Evaluates base and new wells to identify best artificial lift applications, optimize gathering system compression, select well intervention, and implement chemical treatment applications. Evaluates well lease operating expenses for optimization or for abandonment.

Responsibilities

Prepares procedures and Approval for Expenditure (AFE) packages for well intervention activities such as, production logging, artificial lift, well remediation, acid jobs, slick line, coiled tubing clean outs, etc.

 

Reviews field facility design and optimization from the wellhead to custody transfer points for oil and gas streams.

 

Works on assigned projects and reviews completed work projects to enhance efficiency and success of future projects.

 

Identifies opportunities to apply new technology and improve performance.

 

Reviews existing work processes to expose problems and apply engineering techniques to solve problems and recommends updates to processes.

 

Collaborates with Facilities Engineers and the Construction Manager ensure facility construction plans meet requirements to produce new wells.

 

Provides guidance to field operations staff to address production challenges.

 

Supports HSE initiatives and ensures compliance with company HSE procedures and practices in all areas and activities.

 

Monitors and analyzes well performance and makes recommendations to optimize production and/or enhance production through maintenance or intervention.

 

Conducts well surveillance to identify production improvement and loss prevention opportunities.

 

Applies knowledge of artificial lift, natural gas compression, well recompletion & workovers, well control, saltwater disposal, corrosion control, etc.

 

Performs simple economic evaluations for recompletion and mechanical workovers, compression installation, facilities and saltwater projects, etc.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

Four-year Engineering degree in a Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical discipline and five to eight years related experience.

 

Language Skills                                                              

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

Reasoning Ability                                                          

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills                                                             

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
