Overview

Summary

Provides first line technical support for internal customers with regard to building and home automation, and audio-visual (AV) infrastructure.  Provides engineering support to design, specify, review, program, and validate system performance, upgrades, and installation.  As necessary, performs duties as an installer in support of Superintendent, Project Manager, Property Manager’s needs as dictated by project or task requirements.  Engages in daily tasks both on-site and remote, involving but not limited to the installation of Smart Home Control Systems, Audio-Video Systems, Network Racks & Equipment, Speakers, TVs, Home Theaters, Video Walls, Smart Cameras, Smart Doorbells, Low Voltage Wiring & Terminations, etc. in corporate settings and luxury homes. 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Installs and mounts TVs and Displays.
  • Installs advanced mounting systems such as a mantle mount or motorized projector lift.
  • Balances speaker levels in receiver settings.
  • Calibrates color levels on TVs and projectors.
  • Builds and organizes a rack, wire manage a new or existing rack.
  • Installs and configures network and Wi-Fi systems.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses issues on a customer's audio/video system.
  • Completes job documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintains inventory and cleanliness of work vehicles, Loading and unloading.
  • Completes complex audio/video installs, setup, and calibration.
  • Controls system design (control/lighting/shading).
  • Advanced troubleshooting of simple and complex systems.
  • Advanced networking/Wi-Fi system design, installation, and setup.
  • Completes programming of advanced systems.
  • Supports of legacy and/or third-party products and systems.
  • Completes understanding of AV rack design and building.
  • Keeps up to date on technical requirements and industry standards, identifying training needs.
  • Works with and modify installation drawings, schematics and system audit documentation.
  • Ensures issues are dealt with correctly and efficiently and report / escalate where required.
  • Full ownership of related service tickets in the IMPAK system.
  • Attends to call outs promptly and in a presentable manner when required to be onsite.
  • Troubleshoots issues and escalate as necessary.
  • Provides progress updates and demonstrate issue resolution.
  • Participates in ticket and service reviews.
  • Provides out of hours service as needed.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and minimum 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Computer Skills                                                             

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced skills in the use of the MS Office suite of software programs. Proficient in the use of tools such as Adobe, Nitro Pro, with ability to learn and manipulate other third party applications as necessary. Must also be proficient in the use of common smart phone devices and applications.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CEDIA, Crestron MCP and / or MTA, Lutron Homeworks/RA2 certifications desirable but not required.
  • Electrical experience and qualifications desirable.

Other Skills and Abilities                                                           

  • Proficient in AV, lighting, shading, network / WiFi, control systems installation and programming.
  • Possess knowledge of Low Voltage Cabling Types, Tools, Drilling, Mounting, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in operation and use of common hardware and software systems such as Araknis, Bose, Crestron, Lutron, McIntosh, Samsung, Sonance, Sonos, Sony, Ubiquiti Networks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly detailed, organized, and multi-task driven.
  • Excellent skills with desktop and mobile computing.
  • Clean driving record and background check.
  • Must be presentable, well-spoken and have a strong background of interacting with internal customers / contractors / team members.

Other Qualifications                                                    

  • Exceptional team player, helpful and flexible in support of colleagues, and comfortable suggesting improvements where necessary.
  • Confident understanding of wiring schematics, plans, and drawings.
  • Excellent communications skills required to build relationships with colleagues, senior business stakeholders and high net worth individuals.
  • Some travel required with potential for overnight stay.
